Skinwalking

Skinwalkers are witch and warlock shapeshifters who ascribe to a shamanic lifestyle. They complete a Spirit Quest with a tribal elder which guides them to their totem animal and provides them with the ability to shift into said totem animal. Typically, Skinwalkers exist in tribes and live in more wooded and wild areas outside of the city, however, supplies and other needs bring them into the city. Skinwalker totem animals be of any creature that was native to the lands in which they came from, though the most common are the fox, owl, crow/raven, coyote, and hawk.

Shapeshifting: Skinwalkers require some aspect of their totem animal to shift, such as a pelt or wing. Most skinwalkers keep these items on their person at all times. If the item is lost, stolen, or destroyed, the connection with the totem animal becomes strained after three days and then completely severed after a week. They will not be able to shift without it. If they are able to retrieve the item, they must complete a ritual to regain the favor of their totem animal and be able to shift into their form once again. If they are unable to retrieve the item, they must perform another Spirit Quest. Shifts are limited to three (back and forth) a day. Skinwalkers possess no magic in their shifted form.

Magical Totems: Magical totems are similar to Hunter sigils and can embody different spells or aspects such as protection or offensive magic. Typically, a magical totem is a palm sized wooden carvings in the shape of their totem animal, enchanted with a spell that can be drawn from at will of the caster. This 

magic is not as powerful as it would be coming from a dedicated practitioner of the magic class. Magical totems are severely limited, only temporarily effective before they need to recharge. A totem’s spell will only last for four post rounds before the totem is rendered ineffective. A skinwalker may only carry up to four magical totems on their person and only one can be activated at a time.

  • Protection Spells or Wards

  • Regeneration Spells

Healing: Skinwalkers are skilled healers and are capable of mending most injuries. To mend serious injuries such as broken bone, it will take multiple casters and be very draining.
