Humans are the oldest existing race on earth. Short lived yet resilient, humans are the dominant population in the world. Since the creation of the supernaturals, for over two millennia, humans have been treated as less than equal. They are the largest causalities in any war between the supernaturals and even treated as nothing more than prey. Fed on, turned, toyed with, possessed.. humans have gotten the short end of the stick on many occasions.

 

That's not to say that humans have always been helpless. Throughout history there are many recorded events of humans banding together to stand up to their supernatural enemies. There were witch burning, digging up of graves to try and stop vampires, burning bodies after death to make sure they could not be risen or possessed, exorcisms, and the like. Wherever a new threat has risen up, humans have been there to overwhelm with numbers and quick thinking, proving that they are more than just prey. Because of their continued diligence and refusal to be conquered by anyone, the humans have proven themselves not to be inferior to anyone. While they are not as magically or physically capable as other races, they have a strength of will that is indomitable. Not to mention, their ability to adapt and think on their feet has only served them well.

While many may see humans as inferior, they have proven to be a tough and techonologically advanced species. Throughout history, it is on the shoulders of humans that the world and cultures within it have evolved drastically. In a race that lives a small fraction of the time other races do, they have arguably shaped the world more than any other. Quick to adapt, think, and work together, humans are certainly not a force to be underestimated. While some may harbor high prejudice against the supernaturals, others have been known to be intrigued by them as well. It is one of the draws to New Orleans, which is a town rich with history and cultural exposure to the creatures that fill up so much of legends and folklore.
