Lore
Located in the heart of Louisiana, New Orleans was originally a settlement founded in the mid-18th Century by a group of fae folk. It's purpose? A safe haven for supernatural beings who wished to remove themselves from the violence and war that plagued the human world. News of this city spread quickly among the supernatural community; whispers and rumors enough that it caused many to travel in search of it's truths.
Unfortunately, before humans found it, New Orleans was not easily found when first created. Those who sought this rumored haven, would find themselves spending many months searching the lush forests that surrounded it. Those lucky enough to gain access, however, were forced to sign a contract that no open acts of violence would be committed or their life would be taken. And strangely, for a very good while, no incidents were to be heard of. The citizens of New Orleans were peaceful.
However, as is true with most things that seem too good to be true, this peace was not to be had forever
A demon by the name Orias, believed that he had found a loophole in the contract, and laid a trap for a group of angels that resided within the city. Gaining access to their residence, and breaking into their house late one evening, Orias charmed a valuable necklace, leaving it to be worn by it's owner. For the unfortunate angel, the necklace was cursed. Any being unlucky enough to wear it would be driven to commit devastating atrocities and violent acts. Sadly, it took almost no time for the heart of this divine being to succumb to the darkness, and he brutally murdered another of his kin. However, interestingly, it was at this same moment that Orias's host dropped dead, forever banished to the astral plane.
The demons of New Orleans were outraged. Angrily, they confronted the fae, demanding the contract be broken and Orias's soul returned to Earth. The Fae Folk refused, standing firm on the guidelines outlined by their contracts. Such a stand was not taken lightly, however, and the demons of New Orleans alerted a notorious hunters guild to the presence of this supernatural haven, and fled, leaving everyone there to the mercy of the Guild.

In time, what became of the city was mostly left to myth and legend among members of the supernatural community. For many races, it has long been the belief of their elders that the city's rich history was just myth while others believed that it was now simply a trap the hunters laid in the city. For the most part, it has been retaken by the humans.

Left behind as a wasteland, the poor of Louisiana began to populate it, the stories of the haunting and horrific stories getting notoriety and causing rich humans obsessed with the occult to move in, and for tourist to flood for a chance of getting a glimpse into what lies behind the shadows. Beginning to feel safe, supernaturals began to flood the city once more, making it its pleasure, a place where the veil walks the line and they could turn it into their personal playground
